About

I’m Jordan Given, a conservative Republican running for Bryan County Commission, District 5. I was raised in a small town by a family that taught me the values of faith, hard work, and community. I grew up believing that government exists to serve the people, not the other way around. My career in law enforcement has given me firsthand experience with public safety, accountability, and how government decisions affect real lives.

I have the distinct honor to serve as your District Supervisor on the Coastal Soil and Water Conservation District, a unit of state government, representing Bryan County. I focus on responsible land use, protecting our coastal resources, while supporting farmers, landowners, and developers in ways that balance growth with environmental stewardship. I work to ensure that development is sustainable, preserves natural resources, and benefits the community without creating unnecessary burdens on taxpayers. Additionally, I served as Chairman of the Bryan County Republican Party, where I worked to advance conservative principles, safeguard election integrity, and strengthen civic engagement across our county. In this role, I organized candidate forums, convened community events, cultivated relationships with elected officials, and helped ensure that citizens had a meaningful voice in the direction of government.

Most importantly, I’m a family man and a proud father. Richmond Hill has been my home for eight years, and I understand the challenges our community faces with growth, traffic, and rising taxes. I’m running because I believe local government should live within its means, respect taxpayers, and answer to the people, not special interests. I support responsible growth, strong public safety, and common-sense leadership that protects homeowners and seniors so Bryan County remains a place where families can put down roots and thrive.

What I stand for...

Transparency in Government

As Commissioner, I will make transparency and accountability the gold standard so residents always understand how tax dollars are spent and why important decisions are made. I will ensure that zoning, spending, and policy decisions are clearly explained and accessible. Citizens will have the opportunity to speak, be heard, and have their concerns taken seriously. Government will be responsive, accountable, and focused on serving the people. I will work to restore trust, strengthen public confidence, and put residents first.

Responsible Growth and Infrastructure

I will push for smart, responsible growth by planning ahead and investing in critical infrastructure before problems arise. That means making sure our roads, public safety, water, and drainage systems can support growth before new development is approved. Growth should be managed with common sense and not rushed or rubber-stamped, ensuring taxpayers are not forced to cover preventable mistakes. Planning first, building second. Leadership that is practical, accountable, and focused on protecting our community and our quality of life.

Keeping Bryan County Affordable

I will fight to protect homeowners from rising property taxes while supporting responsible growth. Even with nine straight years of millage rate rollbacks and a $70 million reduction in the county budget from 2025, rising property values continue to increase bills for families. I will work to strengthen homestead exemptions for our senior residents, increase transparency in property assessments, and promote growth that balances community needs with economic opportunity. Leadership means keeping government lean, protecting taxpayers, and making sure families can afford to stay in Bryan County while welcoming development that benefits the entire community.

Safe Communities, Strong Responders

I will make public safety a top priority by ensuring our law enforcement, fire, EMS, and Emergency Management Agency have the resources, staffing, and technology they need to serve our growing community. I will work closely with department heads to identify and address needs before problems arise, plan ahead so new developments do not outpace emergency response, support training and retention programs for first responders, and advocate for initiatives that protect families and neighborhoods. Strong public safety means strong communities, and I will always put residents and those who protect them first.

Parks, Programs, and Play for Bryan County

I will prioritize expanding safe and engaging recreational opportunities for youth across Bryan County so every family has spaces to gather, play, and grow together. I will support community parks, sports fields, playgrounds, after-school programs, and green spaces that promote physical activity, mentorship, and family involvement. Through smart, forward-thinking planning, these facilities will keep pace with our county’s growth and provide lasting benefits to all neighborhoods without placing undue burden on taxpayers. Investing in our children today strengthens Bryan County for generations to come.
